Setting up Pocket Folders for Print
Pocket Folder Die line File Setup Guidelines
To ensure accurate production, please follow the guidelines below when creating your dieline and print-ready file.
1. File Format
- Submit files as Adobe Illustrator (.AI) or Press-ready PDF
- All fonts must be outlined
- Images should be 300 DPI at final size
- Use CMYK color mode (no RGB)
2. Dieline Requirements
- Provide the dieline on a separate layer labeled “Dieline”
- Dielines must be created as vector paths (no raster images)
- Use the following color coding:
- Red (100% Magenta / 100% Yellow) = Cut lines
- Blue = Fold/score lines
- Green = Perforations (if applicable)
- Set dieline strokes to 1 pt and overprint enabled
3. Bleed & Safe Area
- Include 1/8” (0.125”) bleed on all sides
- Keep all critical text and logos at least 1/8” inside from trim and fold lines
- Extend background colors/images fully to the bleed edge
4. Layout Considerations
- Clearly indicate:
- Front cover
- Back cover
- Inside pockets
- Ensure artwork is properly oriented and aligned with folds
- Avoid placing important elements across fold lines
5. Pocket & Business Card Slits
- Standard business card size: 3.5” x 2”
- Indicate placement clearly on the dieline layer
- Ensure pockets are accounted for in the layout and design
6. Proofing
- Provide a low-resolution PDF proof showing how the final folder should appear when assembled
- Double-check spelling, alignment, and image quality before submission
7. File Checklist Before Submission
- Fonts outlined
- Images embedded
- Correct bleed included
- Dieline on separate layer
- Colors set to CMYK
- File exported as AI or print-ready PDF
